Mon, Nov 12 2007 - Inglewood Loop, Noon start (View Original Event Details)
|
This was an interesting loop starting at the zoo, joining the Nose Creek bike path, following the Bow River on the north side past the weir, crossing the 17th Ave bridge to the west side of the Bow River, heading south to the Inglewood Bird sanctuary, visiting the bird sanctuary, and returning on 17th Avenue and on the bike path on the south side of the zoo.
It was a windy day so we lost a few participants at about the halfway mark (no they didn't blow away, they hurried back to the starting point). The remaining hardy souls were rewarded with a warm up at the Buffalo Cafe in Inglewood.
We managed to see some wildlife including a downy woodpecker, a bald eagle and even a grizzly bear (ok, we saw the bear in its enclosure while walkng by the zoo).
For future events meeting at the Zoo LRT please be aware that there is reconstruction of the station until early 2008. A good landmark may be to meet by the ticket machines.
Thank you for joining me for an interesting afternoon. Laura L
