OK - so maybe it's not quite hiking season. But ten brave souls were willing to give it their best shot on Saturday. As soon as we turned onto Highway 40, we were greeted with fairly heavy snow and strong winds. When we reached the Information Centre, they advised that the forecast had been changed from maybe 2-3 cms of snow. to 10-12 cms. The latter forecast was probably fairly accurate. But in spite of the weather, we had a good hike. We were on the trail by 10:40 or so, and back about four hours later. We did part of Stoney Trail, then went back into the woods and stopped at Troll Falls for lunch. It was so serene - and beautiful. We trekked a little further, stopped at Nakiska for a short break, and then back to the cars. Because it was fairly deep snow, with some icy patches thrown in, we only did 10.2 km (Thanks Barbara for the GPS shots), but we had a good work out with about a 200 metre gain during the hike.
