When taking up a challenge it’s often said that what doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger. Well, nobody died!

The trek up Prairie Mountain was grueling. We set the pace slow and took frequent breaks and kept a sense of humor. I know that a few of you struggled with the difficulty of this hike but what a feeling of accomplishment when we all reached the summit! The trail conditions up were relatively good with a few wet muddy areas and some snow / ice patches. We were able to circumvent most of the snow patches and those we walked through had been softened by the warm weather and so we didn’t need our icers (darn, after running most of the way back to the car to retrieve mine :). The weather was perfect and after starting out around 10:30, we reached the summit for lunch at around 1:15. On the way down, there were some slippery sections on the snow / ice patches but we all made it down safely. We finished the hike just after 3:00.
A few of us headed to Kilkenny’s afterwards for a bite to eat and some refreshments.

Thank you to all who participated in this event. You sure are fun and interesting people to hike with. I had a real good time!
