AWESOME BABY!!

What an incredibly beautiful day to be out on the Bow! Our group gathered in Inglewood this morning then carpooled over to Bowness Park where we promptly pumped up our boats and drenched ourselves in sun block. In the midst of all the preparation we were suddenly greeted by a group of individuals passing out free ice cold drinks (promotion for a beverage called “vitamin water”). We couldn’t believe our luck as we were all working up a pretty good sweat pumping up the rafts in 30C heat so the drinks were a welcome relief. Check out the attached album for photos of us enjoying our free drinks.

We finally got into the river shortly after 12:30pm. We were happy to see some clarity had returned to the water although it was still somewhat murky. Even the speed of the water had slowed down to a more manageable pace. We floated along the river for approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes before arriving at Edworthy Park where we made our one and only scheduled stop of the afternoon, Angels Cafe. We then spent some time relaxing by the shore, hitting the washrooms and enjoying the view while snacking on some delicious treats.

Just before 3pm we loaded up again and headed back into the water. For the next 90 minutes or so we cruised along relaxing under the bright sunshine and clear blue sky. We passed many other boaters as we made our way alongside downtown, Prince's Island Park and finally the zoo before coming ashore on the Inglewood side of the river at the 12th Street SE bridge. Here we deflated our boats, packed up our gear and carpooled back to Bowness to pickup the rest of the vehicles. It was an incredibly fun day and this event will definitely be repeated several times over before the summer is through!!

Thanks to everyone for making today so much fun. I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
