We drew a scorcher this weekend with absolutely no wind. What are the odds??!! It is Waterton, after all. A few of us arrived early on Friday and did the boat tour of Upper Waterton Lake which was a gentle introduction to the weekend. On Saturday, about half the group did Crypt Lake, and the other half did Bertha Lake. I was on the Bertha Lake group and although some of the views were great, I found it to be a bit of a grunt up to get to most of the views. On Sunday, some of us stuck around to hike Lineham Creek, which I personally loved. It has stunning views for more than half the trip in - bonus - and was a refreshing but not-too-difficult 8.2km round with 350m of elevation gain. The only disappointment is that the trail ends well away from the waterfall which is obstructed by trees. Some people cared a lot more about that than I did... the other views were just so fantastic that I didn't give a rip about the waterfall. But that's just me... I don't normally give that much of a rip about waterfalls anyway.

Thanks to everyone who came out - it was a fantastic weekend!

It was a great weekend, good company, awesome weather and the organizational talent of our Rhonda made it all the better. The Trip to Crypt lake was a good long hike starting of with a boatride, than a long haul trough the forest and ending at the lake after enduring snow slides on the trail, climbing a ladder, crawling through a tunnel and holding on for dear life to a cable that was the only thing between you and the bottom of the ravine where a waterfall was roaring it's way to the waterton lake. We all made it to Crypt lake. Some of us looked like professional photographers (and hopefully some pictures will show their incredible talents, just look of the cracker picture :).

In the evening we all hang out at the campfire doing the normal tete à tete and waving frantically to each other and the mosquitoes.

Lineham Creek; a very beautiful hike, ended NOT at the waterfall (darn it) but in the middle of nowhere, 4 trails going towards it and ALL of them ending nowhere. Now I must say the views again where awesome even from a short distance and the company made up for everything else.

Cheers,
Wil

This camping trip was my first COC event and I definitely plan to attend more in the near future. I felt welcome, and there was freedom for everybody to choose to do what they liked. Thank you all for your company during the weekend. And Rhonda, thank you for all your organizing work.
See you, Liesbeth.
