This was a looooong hike, 735 meters on a trail and than 1000 meters over scree, rocks, boulders and other unidentified rubble. Part of the group made it to the top and others due to unforeseen circumstances turned around. The panorama at the top of a more than 3300 meters peak is very impressive. The steep drop of over 1000 meters on the east side of Sunwapta to the valley below, not to mention the beautiful formed cornices along the top edge, does take your breath away! The weather was very cooperative, sun and wind and on the way back a short burst of thunder/lightning and rain to cool us of. A very nice group of outdoor enthusiasts. Paul and myself hope to see you all (soon) again. Happy Trails. cheers, Wil Ps. The restaurant at HI Lake Louise where we finished our day is cheap and good :)
