Write Up:
The group enjoyed a quick walk to the hidden falls of Heart Creek. Peter and Chris went off above the falls, only to find they were still hidden. The rest of the group made plans to split off for some different options, and then headed back to the trailhead. We met up with Rhonda’s happy group on our way back.

At the fork in the path, Barry, Esther, Ken, Mehran, Ewa, and Cory ventured off in search of better views of Heart Mountain and area.

Thanks to a suggestion from Michael, he and Mark, Jane, Garry, Peter, Tyler, Marla, and Ronan went on to do the Grassi Lakes hike. We elected to take the more difficult route up to the lakes, and then returned on the easy road route. Of course the ascent was much more scenic, and well worth the extra effort. It was too nice of a day not to spend more time out in the fresh air, and Grassi Lakes was a well-enjoyed addition to the trip.

After completing the Heart Creek hike, Esther, Ewa, Mehran, Ken and Cory hiked the first two thirds of Heart Mountain up to the Crux at 5240 ft. Fantastic views of the Bow Valley and surrounding mountains complemented stunning glimpses of gusting winds forming cornices on the mountain summits. All agreed it was a good aerobic experience and look forward to returning next summer to scramble the Crux and achieve the summit.
