NOT A CLOUD IN THE SKY!
Today was one of those days where making a trip to the mountains was mandatory! The weather was amazing and surprisingly the crowds were relatively small for a holiday weekend. We had a nice goup of 8 which required the use of just 2 vehicles making it easy to spend more time chatting as a group throughout the day.
We took on the loop in a clockwise direction following Stoney Trail along the Lake for approximately 3km before making our way up jewel pass stopping briefly at the refreshing little waterfall just off the trail. Eventually we arrived at the Prairie View junction where we took on our last 3km towards the lower lookout. Not far from the lookout we crossed paths with Carole W's group heading in the opposite direction as they decided to take on the loop counter-clockwise. We chatted for a few minutes before moving on.
Once at the top we broke for lunch where most of us ended up enjoying a nice little nap while Ken and Chirag ventured up the extra 20 minutes to the main lookout. After taking in the spectacular views for an hour or so we began the short hike down via Prairie View trail arriving at the lake in less than an hour. After reaching the parking lot, we made our way back to the lake briefly for a refreshing foot soak where Chirag was the only one brave enough to actually go for a swim!
As usual it was a great time with great people!
Thanks again to everyone for making this such a fun day!
