Write Up:It turned out to be a perfect day - just the right mix of sunshine, clear blue skies, dramatic views and a great bunch of people.
Takakkawa Falls was impressive in its immensity and the view of Daly Glacier, the source of the Falls, impressed us by its vastness. once we were above the tree line the terrain became vast, wild, bleak and yet superb in its untamed quality with ancient glaciers, glacial talus, moraine and glacial run-offs. What a feast for the eye. The unique flora and fauna of the area inspired our budding amateur photographers to take phtographs non-stop. Just before we stopped for lunch at an unnamed though beautiful moraine blue glacial tarn at the junction leading to Celeste Lake, the distant sound of thunder and ominous gathering of clouds made us decide to veer down after lunch to the valley below toward Celeste Lake and Laughing Falls to avoid the possibility of being caught in a thunder storm on the exposed ridge. It lengthened our hike a bit and we ended up doing 17.7 km in total, but it was a satisfied group that reached Takakkawa Falls. We finished off with a stop at Laggans and the ice cream shop at Lake Louise.
The photographers in the group have promised to post their pictures soon.
