First of all, six of us would like to thank the member who left the message on my voice mail that we go past Sherbrooke Lake a couple of kilometres to a waterfall. It was one of many highlights in a great hiking adventure. We met early (7:30 am) but after both car missed the entrance to the trail head, it was about 10:15 am when we started the hike. We first went to Paget Lookout, where we had spectacular views of the surrounding peaks. The lookout is a nice shelter where you can relax and eat lunch without worrying about the weather. Although it was quite pleasant on the walk up, the wind started to increase, and a few flurries were spotted. We decided to head down and go to Sherbrooke Lake (which can be seen from the trail to Paget). What a gem of a lake - very large, and that perfect green / blue colour. From the lake, we proceeded further down the trail and discovered an incredible waterfall. We were so grateful someone had suggested this extension of the trip. After relaxing with this dramatic backdrop, we decided to head back to the cars and go to Emerald Lake Lodge for supper. We were delayed slightly by traffic - but continued with the fun - and arrived at Emerald Lake around 5:30 pm. We relaxed in the lounge, with a roaring fire beside us, and a good meal. We were back in the cars by about 7 pm, and in Calgary just after 9 pm.
Thanks to all who came out and made it such an incredible day.
