Yet another great night of soccer for the 22 who attended tonight's event. We enjoyed a very entertaining and close game from start to finish. After two frames the score was just 1-1 thanks to near perfect goaltending by both Spencer and Steve. It wasn't until the 3rd and final frame when momentum began to shift in favour of Team Blue thanks to a very innocent looking free kick by Mandy from near centre field. With incredible precision Mandy gave the ball a good swift kick that sent it flying through the air and over Spencer's head in an almost rainbow like fashion into the net behind him. The crowd went wild as players from both teams looked on in disbelief. This was the goal that turned the game around for team Team Blue who eventually went on to win 4-2.
After the match most of us headed upstairs and invaded the soccer centre pub for some yummy nachos, wings and beer. It was about midnight when we got up there which meant it was now officially Sunday. This was significant because Sunday was Kim's 29th birthday!! We surprised her with a delicious chocolate cake and sang our hearts out as the pub staff presented it to her at our table. Fluffy, Amanda and Myles who were unable to participate in the soccer game, made the trip out to help us celebrate the occasion. It was great to have them join us ~ thanks guys!
Tonight's "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the game to Mandy who scored her first ever COC soccer goal tonight! Mandy is a familiar face at many COC sporting events and competes hard. She is lots of fun and a great addition to any team. Congratulations once again Mandy on your BIG goal and bobble head award!
