FREEZER BURN!! Ok so tonight was a cold one and not just outside. Our field was located in the bubble portion of the soccer centre where many found it a little too cool for comfort. Despite the cold night however almost everyone made it out to enjoy another fun evening of COC soccer.
Team Gold got off to an early 4-0 lead thanks in part to some solid play by several newcomers in the group. For the rest of the evening it was an uphill battle for Team Blue who battled hard but could not keep pace, dropping a 12-6 decision to Team Gold before a sellout crowd. The score certainly made it appear very one sided but overall I thought both teams had about the same amount of scoring chances. It just wasn't meant to be for Team Blue tonight. Despite the lopsided victory it was really encouraging to see almost everyone from both sides come together afterwards for some pub time. We all enjoyed some munchies and refreshments along with the usual laughs and great conversations you come to expect at the conclusion of COC events like these. It wasn't long before the frustrations of a big loss gave way to the enjoyment of each others company and to me that is the COC difference. A genuine almost family like atmosphere amongst our members and it’s why I love being a part of it so much. Thanks everyone for keeping it FUN!
Tonight's "Player of the Game" award was presented immediately following the game to Franco who scored at least a few goals tonight for Team Gold! Franco is a regular attendee of many COC sporting events and has a competitive yet friendly spirit about him. He is very enthusiastic and always gives 110%. He is a great guy and a pleasure to have at so many of my events. I have really enjoyed getting to know him better over the past year and look forward to sharing many more events with him in the future. Congratulations on your award Franco!
