What a winter wonderland! The snow could not have been any better for us to spend a day playing. We must have literally had hundreds of falls into white fluff, which brought out the kid in all of us. And, getting up is indeed much harder when you're laughing :-).

We started along the Elk Pass Trail to somewhere before West Elk Pass. There we decided to take a shortcut to Fox Lake, which ended up taking us through deep, deep snow, up the Alberta/BC border cutline (where one step forward equalled four steps back; we called it the snowshoe stairmaster), and through more bush until we finally got to the lake. Not a single other person in sight along this entire stretch; Fox Lake definitely seems to be one of the less travelled to places in winter. After lunch at the lake we retraced our tracks to the picnic bench junction going up to Blueberry Hill. The ascent, though long, was a nice easy relief after the bushwhacking up to Fox Lake had slowed us down to a bit. The viewpoint at Blueberry Hill was incredible and we were all blown away by the views before we were blown away by the nice long, fluffy descent through more bush and snow. Lots of snow, lots more falls, and lots more laughs. Thank you all for making this an incredible day out in the mountains! And welcome to the COC, Mike!
