We were blessed with fresh, new snow and blue skies. We even had a group of high school students ahead of us, on their way to an overnighter at Rummel Lake, packing down the trail for the first two-thirds of the way. After we passed them, we had to do some trail blazing, but were rewarded at the lake with a pristine, untracked view.
We learned that the winter trail is different than the summer trail, once the trail meets the creek, you turn left and follow yellow signs on the trees (to avoid following the cliff face on the right).
Had the usual list of small mishaps – lunch left at home in the fridge, socks forgotten and a slightly more serious case of temporary leg cramps. But we were a good natured group and had a wonderful day.
