We had a picture perfect day, filled with 17 hours of non-stop fun and for many a first trip to Waterton. Hopefully this will make you all return to this beautiful area. But how much exactly can you cram into a single day? How about getting up by 4am, enjoying a sunrise drive, two boat rides across Waterton Lake, four waterfalls, three lakes, a tunnel, some chains, witnessing people swimming in ice, and an improptu hike to Montana? Still not enough? Throw in plenty of wildflowers including the Indian Paintbrush taste test, snow and glacier-blue ice, and dinner in smalltown Alberta (where main street is truly dead on a Saturday night) and you’ve got your day taken care of. Weather couldn’t have been any better with us enjoying a very comfortable 20-25ºC with a breeze all day. Seeing how we had hit the jackpot with that, we decided at lunch to ‘miss’ our 4pm boat back and take our time to head around Crypt Lake, then tack on the Hell Roaring Falls Loop and in turn take the 5:30 boat. We just love getting so much out of a single hike!!! Thank you for a wonderful group for making this a long, rewarding day out.
