Write Up:“What do you want for this?” was the most common question heard over the weekend of May 2-3/09. It was asked by the hundreds of fantastic folks who came out to the 21st Mustard Seed Mega Huge Garage Sale. And when the response came back that all proceeds were for the Mustard Seed and that any reasonable donation would ensure their purchase, huge smiles would erupt on customer faces and along with cash would come the reply, “For Mustard Seed, that’s great. Here you go!”
Along with a thank you to the many attendees goes a mega huge thank you to the energetic volunteers for a very successful, best ever, event! Given the overwhelming success of the sale, we could have used more volunteers but managed with amazing multi-day efforts from Roy, Katherine, Marilyn, Laurie, Laura, and me.
The sheer quality and quantity of merchandise this time out were excellent. With the help of a cameo appearance by Jeff Buziak, we were still pulling truckloads out of storage 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Lori Stewart was unable to make it due to travel plans, though, she did participate with truckloads of treasures and the loan of a canopy. Laurie Matheson, besides being a tireless volunteer, happened to also have the honor of being our biggest customer / contributor. Connie Sturgess made my life a lot easier by helping with packing up all day Monday, and being a pretty significant customer to boot.
I understand that Andrea did wonders in the front yard displays and big ticket items! Marilyn, your delicious food kept everyone pumped. Special thanks to Sarka, Katherine (and me) who took care of business and huge crowds on our own for those last tough hours Saturday afternoon.
F.Y.I: Gross / Net Cash flow (every penny taken in) Saturday $6,228; Sunday $2,953; Pre & Post Sale Revenue $610; Totaling $9,804.24 donated to The Mustard Seed … our largest sale ever!
Until next time ... Jim.
