We enjoyed another beautiful fall day - the larches have started turning to their golden colour, and 8 moose welcomed us in the morning. This is one of those hikes/scrambles where you do need to follow the directions very closely. We were off on a good pace, which had us miss our turn-off by a cairn, big wooden teepee, and flagging tape. How did we all miss that the first time around? The basin gave us a full view of our route ahead and we took the first of several breaks, enjoying the warm sun and fall colours. The bulk of the scrambling is done on the way up the east side of the ridge. On the first peak we encountered the communications gizmo, which we found had a radio connection down to Mount Engadine Lodge. Another brief stop was in order on the next summit (the high point of the ridge), and then again as Telmo and Jim were lounging in the sun. Views were great in all directions - from Mount Chester, to the Spray Lakes and Mount Assiniboine - but it looked like some snow could be moving in from the west. We finished earlier than expected (after 5.5 hours), so went back through Canmore where we stopped at the Rose & Crown (how could we resist another break?).

Thank you all for making this another great day out in the mountains!
