Write Up:A glorious day in the mountains – perfect weather, incredible scenery, and a terrific group. All one could ask for. We started the hike around 10:15 am from the Upper Kananaskis Lake parking lot. We walked in a counterclockwise direction (as opposed to the route in the Gem Trek maps); we found this the best route as in the afternoon when it was quite warm, and our feet were tired, the shade of the trees and softness of the dirt trail were well received. We stopped at the Interlake dam for a brief snack, and at the Kananaskis Falls for lunch. Although the water level of the lakes was very low, the waterfalls and streams were torrents. We were back at the cars by 4 pm, and then stopped at Kananaskis Village for snacks and cool drinks before the drive home. A great group - and a wonderful early season hike.
