The rounded crest of Forgetmenot Ridge offers fulfilling yet relatively easy hiking. The trail begins with an initial steep ascent, however we will be rewarded with a scenic 3km alpine cruise after our efforts. The trail should give great views of the foothills and give us a great October workout. At this time of the year we never know what we will encounter(icy sections) therefore some form of ice traction is essential. "MicroSpikes" (MEC or Campers Village) or "ICERS" (Lee Valley Tools) are great! TIP:If you live in the NW, probably quicker to meet us at trailhead-but pls be 15 minutes early. If you take the bus, #3 goes directly into the park.

Please read before signing up:
Please note that there will be snow on the trail, therefore, gaiters are strongly recommended(majority of hiking trails now have snow)and that we will be hiking at a moderate pace. If you are a "very beginner" or if you are use to "slowpoke hikes" with a lot of stops, the pace for this hike will likely be TOO quick for you. Please remember, it's a lot more of a workout to hike in snow than on dry terrain. One tires out more quickly, so although this is rated a D3, and you're switching from urban hikes to mountain hikes and never hiked in the mountains before with snow with elevation, this will be too hard for you. Please make sure this is within your hiking ability and that you've recently hiked 500m+. Nontheless pls read "required items to bring, since we are now hiking in "winter conditions" and everyone needs to come fully prepared so that one can fully complete a hike and not freeze and need to turn back.

Required Items to Bring:
-Hiking footwear - snow in the area - sorry no runners
-Icers
-Sleeve over camelbak tubing so if it's cold your water tubing doesn't freeze.
-2 pairs of gloves.(you sweat going up, so if you don't have extra pair in pack to switch to your hands will freeze)
-2 pairs of socks...if your boots are not waterproof or your feet just get cold with snow going into your boots and you don't have extra dry pair in pack to switch to, your feet will freeze.
-Extra layer under hiking pants and waterproof/wind proof pants(if cold/alot of snow(wet/dry))and you just have 1 layer regular very light hiking pants and they get wet, you will freeze.
-Well equipped day pack
- Bag for dirty boots
- Gaiters strongly recommended
- Lunch and water
- Remember to dress in layers
Icers(at this time of year you never know when you might need them)
