From Mt. Shark parking lot we will take the Watridge Lake Trail. This is trackset to the lake, then skier tracked and well used past the lake. We will have some small hills along the way and will cross Spray River and Bryant Creek (on a bridge). The trail then joins the Bryant Creek Trail- easy and clear to follow

The group may decide to turn around here or continue to Bryant Creek Shelter for a total of 14 Kms one way.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:The trip starts at Mt. Shark parking lot on the Smith Dorrien. Take the Trans Canada Highway west towards Canmore, and then Highway 40 south into Kananaskis Country. Turn right onto the Kananaskis Lakes Trail at the winter gate. Turn north (right) onto the Smith Dorrien. Several kilometres up the road you will see the Mt. Shark parking lot.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $90.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Saturday, April 20, 2024). This is based on $0.16/Km for maintenance, plus current gas price divide by 9. Alternately your carpool driver may choose to split the maintenance cost plus the actual gas cost among all in the vehicle. Your carpool driver will confirm exactly how much money they require to cover costs. Please split the actual cost among all people in the vehicle.

Terrain Classification: Class 1
Conditions: Moderate at Alpine.
Plan: Coordinator will check reports on Friday a.m. Should the avalanche rating become High or Extreme for Bryant Creek, the event will remain on the Mount Shark groomed cross country trails which are exempt from avalanche planning.
Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip.
