Wasootch Ridge offers an interesting series up climbs and decents all the way to the final cairn. The ascents are persistent up a long ridge on the east side of Kananaskis Valley. Once on top of the ridge you'll get 360 degree views all around. We will not do the extended part beyond the ridge and stop right at the cairn on the ridge where the terrain is flat and have lunch here.

We never know what we will encounter(icy sections) therefore some form of ice traction is probably a good idea to bring on every winter hike in the mountains. "MicroSpikes" (MEC or Campers Village) or "ICERS" (Lee Valley Tools) are great!

PACE: Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike(getting to the top in record time) nor is it for very slowpokes, we will be hiking at a moderate pace on gentler grades and at a slower pace on steeper terrain. If you're not sure about a hike, feel free to contact the coordinator and remember to always hike within your ability in order to be able to keep up with the group. If you have not hiked before or recently hiked with 500M+, this hike is not for you. If you're use to "very slowpoke pace hikes" then this hike is not for you.
