This ridgewalk is a great early season opener and doesn't require the Highway 40 winter gate to be open.
The hill, from the road, is unimposing... but it is an exciting climb with great views, and a fabulous summit panorama. Through a fringe of trees we'll stride onto grassy slopes. From there a sharp ascent leads to a breach in the cliffy, southeast ridge... to the crest. We'll follow the ridge crest to the rocky summit. Descending the south ridge, we'll be in trees occasionally. The final descent is open and steep, but you'll have to stop to admire the scenery. You'll complete the loop by sauntering about 20 minutes along the highway back to your vehicle.

PACE:Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike(getting to the top in record time), we will be hiking at a moderate pace, which means slower on steep hills to go up but moderate pace for the rest. If you're not sure about a hike, please always feel free to contact the coordinator's and remember to always hike within your ability. If you have Never hiked or Recently hiked with 500M+ OR you are switching from URBAN HIKES to mountain hikes, it is highly recommended that you start with lower elevations and build up from there. If you're use to doing "Slowpoke Pace Hikes" then this hike is unfortunately not for you. I will be checking your COC history and might be touching base with you if I don't know you..

(Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides.)
