Itinerary: | |||||||
Distance: ~9km+ (this is a loop) see trail map here Total Elevation Gain: ~600m (spread out over several hills) This will primarily be an off-trail exploratory hike. Please come ready to explore :-). Pls remember no runners or jeans. Windy Peak Hills refers to a number of grassy ridges, of which Windy Peak is the highest summit at 2,250m. True to their name, the Windy Peak Hills are an incredibly windswept region of the Livingstone Range. We will aim to do this hike as a clockwise loop. We will be on or near a ridgecrest most of the day, so the whole area is often in view, and the way forward is usually obvious. From the last ridge before Windy Peak we'll descend a mainly open slope, cross a clearing, then intersect a dirt highway. The final 1.8 km is a road-walk back to our vehicles. References:
