DAY 1: Iceline Trail

Distance: 22 kms
Elevation Gain: 710 m

"One day's exposure to mountains is better than a cartload of books." John Muir said it. Yoho proves it. The park is smaller than the other parks in the Canadian Rockies and yet has the heaviest concentration of high-impact scenery. You'll survey a big chunk of it from the Iceline.
Reference "Don't waste your time in the Rockies", pg. 86.

Camp front country in the Lake Louise/Yoho area depending on site availability.

DAY 2: Caldron Lake

Distance 16km
Elevation Gain: 685 m going in plus another 340 m coming out

Pack up our gear and head up the icefields parkway.

"Eye of newt, tail of yak, make these hikers burn to come back. Imbibe of Caldron Lake, and you're under its spell. You'll find this powerful apline brew hidden among the Waputik Mountains, near the Wapta Icefield, beneath striking peaks and glaciers, in a seldom-visited rock-and-tundra basin, at the end of a sketchy but discernable route. Later, you'll find it deep in the folds of your memory.

Reference "Don't waste your time in the Rockies", pg. 71.

Please read the information below prior to signing up.
- The pace will be moderate (no slowpokes please).
- Given the distance combined with the elevation gain, the event is best suited to STRONG hikers.
- Early start from Calgary and definitively late return.

*** Please only register if you are genuinely interested in these hikes and have the right fitness level. Cancellations only create additional work for co-ordinators.
