| Itinerary: |
| Come out for some climbing at the Stronghold. We'll meet by the couches.
If the gym is quiet enough, there will be some people willing to do some lead climbing.
***You MUST have your lead belay card through the CCC or Stronghold to lead climb. This is done by arranging a lead test in advance. Unlike the top rope belay test, a lead belay test can not be arranged on the spot. There will be no opportunity to take the lead test on the night, and there will be no lead climb instruction given!***
If you've never done a top rope belay test before, please see the section titled Belay Test below.
For those new people... throughout the night we make sure we mix it up so you get a chance to climb with someone more experienced than yourself to learn a few new tricks! We've got a great group of climbers of all levels
Belay Test
In order to gain entry to the gym, you need to pass a belay test (note: having done a belay test at some other gym is not sufficient). The belay test requires technical knowledge of climbing basics. It is a TEST of your grasp of this knowledge and is not something that you can fake, 'wing', or hope for the best on if you have never climbed or have not climbed in a long time: you will not pass and the owners will not allow you to use the facility. Please note that club members are unable (not permitted) to provide instruction. The solution - if you are new to climbing or need a refresher - is to first go to any gym in the city and they can provide a basic lesson to get you started. Feel free to join us after you’ve made this initial step! ($4.76)
If you do know how to tie in and belay, but you’ve never been to this gym before, you must be able to pass the belay test without help – you can do this at the beginning of the evening. You may wish to arrive at 5:00 to get this out of the way and to ensure maximum fun time.
