Itinerary:
We will be scrambling Mt Andromache which lies north of Lake Louise on the Icefields Parkway. We will be following Alan Kane's directions from his guide book, "Scrambles in the Canadian Rockies" on page 292 and 293. Summit elevation is listed as 2996m. Elevation gain is about 1140m. Time, anywhere from 8 - 10 hours. If the summit weather is good, it is not uncommon for me to spend an hour or so on the summit before descending. My pace is moderate with breaks for snacks and photos so I tend to take the high end of the trip time so expect about 10 hours excluding travel time. This will be all day so please do not plan any activity for the evening. Kane describes a possible traverse to a higher unamed point which we will do should conditions allow. This traverse will bring us about 2km away from our vehicles.
