Itinerary:
Distance 16 km
Elevation Gain 600 m

We start from the Vista Lake viewpoint, where we quickly lose an elevation of 120m to Vista Lake. Then we gain an elevation of 600m over the next 3.6 km to Arnica Lake, which is backed against the cliffs of Storm Mountain. The trail continues over Arnica summit to Twin Lakes, reaching Upper Twin after a steady 1.4 km descent. This is the scenic approach to Twin Lakes.

From Twin lakes, we head down Altrude Creek to make this a one-way hike that requires a car shuttle. The hike starts at Arnica Trail parking on highway 93 (8km west of highway 1) and finishes at Altrude Creek Trailhead, at the junction of highway 1 and 93.

This trip is best suited to strong hikers as we will move at a fairly brisk pace. Also keep in mind that we may stop in Canmore for a drink/bite after the hike.
