Let's do another hike in this area, before the winter gate closes on December 1st. We will begin our hike by passing after 30 mins. the beautiful Elbow Lake. Instead of remaining here, as many do, we will continue through the Elbow Valley where we will cross rolling, sparsely-treed meadows in search of our goal: Rae Lake.

The trail itself will begin along a road-trail through some meadows. After passing Elbow Lake, we will get some views of Piper Creek canyon and occasionally get a glimpse of the Elbow River. The trail will branch off and eventually end up following a cairned path to Rae Lake, at the foot of Mt. Rae. The trip promises many views of the neighbouring peaks, passage by a couple of lakes and exploration into one of the less commonly explored parts of the area.

PACE: Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike(getting to the top in record time) nor is it for very slowpokes. Your coordinator likes to ascend at slow steady pace on steeper terrain going up and at a moderate pace on gentler grades and going down. If you cannot follow this pace and want to go quicker then pls do not sign up. If you're not sure about a hike, feel free to contact the coordinator and remember to always hike within your ability in order to be able to keep up with the group. If you're use to "very slowpoke pace hikes" then this hike is not for you.
