Kindly please read the whole event description to see if you qualify. If there are any last minute cancellations-wait list members who meet the requirements will get contacted. One of the objectives of the Calgary Outdoor Training Program Team (Sylvia(1) A. and Carolyn L.) in 2010 is to provide educational sessions where members can learn about different aspects of the outdoors. We are extremely fortunate in that we've bid/obtained sponsorship for this course from CAOC. This free two day course will be run by Yamunska and will involve one day of classroom instruction at the CAOC Building-2nd floor, with the second day being outdoors and scheduled to run at Bow Summit. Since your COC coordinators play an important role and take on a lot of responsibility when they take you out to the mountains, they will get FIRST DIBS to register for this course(depending if they also meet the requirements as per below). HOWEVER,if the coordinators have not filled the spots, I will start shifting members from the wait list to the events list. So check your emails and website to see if you've been approved. Course Length: 2 days -- December 18, 19 2010 9am to 5pm DO I QUALIFY? Since this course is being paid for us, if you sign up,we need 100% commitment that that you will attend-this is a rare privilege. Kindly, please review the following before you sign up, you must meet all requirements to be considered for 1 of the 4 spots.: 1. You must be a current active member with COC for the past 6 months. If your membership indicates less then 6 months, unfortunately you do not qualify. 2. If your COC "history" indicates a few "no shows", you are not eligible. 3. In the past 1 year you must have participated in alot of COC outdoor mountain events-i.e. COC hikes or backpacks or cross country ski or back-country ski or snowshoe events(this EXCLUDES COC and personal Mtn and city bike rides and social events and urban hikes. Your COC outdoor mountain history will be reviewed. 4. If you meet ALL the above requirements you can now add your name to the wait list(if you don't meet all 3 you will not be eligible). Where your name is on the wait list has no bearing. 5. If after having been approved and you have have signed the required documents and you need to cancel 48 hours prior to the event=you will get an automatic no show. PLEASE NOTE: WE HAVE BEEN GIVEN A STRICT DEADLINE OF November 19, 2010 TO SUBMIT THE NAMES OF THE ELIGIBLE MEMBERS. | |||||||
