Good News, we've added another coordinator and best of all, she (Kayla) is an accredited MTB instructor.
If we have been on more than 1 ride with you, you can't come ;) Nothing personal, but the club is needing some truly beginner mountain bike rides. That means a pace that supports learning riders able to see the lead riders go over trail features and learning from them. (And lead riders that will hang back to be the observees.) By "Easy Technical" we mean an easy pace (though granted 'Easy' is subjective) and Technical means a trail that requires some skill to ride, not a knowledge of wrenches or bike repair. Don't worry though, the intent is to impart some of these riding skills to you during the ride. A "Technical" trail may include: steeper hills, loose rocks and cobble that can slightly change the course of your bike or allow slippage, narrow trails (single-track), riding across a side slope, trees/branches close to the trail that require steering around, bridges, gullys, culverts, etc. to ride over, roots, muddy sections, sudden changes in direction and elevation, often which require weight transfer of the rider from front/back/side, extended climbs, and any combination of the above. None of the coordinators are a real, live, accredited mountain bike instructor, but they do ride A LOT, so we're just going to go out and ride and show you what we do and what techniques exist to conquer the obstacles mentioned above. Some of those obstacles can cause your bike to move in an unexpected manner so you must stay in control at all times. Anything you don't feel confident of riding, you should get off your bike and walk it as needed. Jumpingpound Loop is a fun single track on a 10km figure-8 loop, with the trail highlighted by several views across the Sibbald Flats. If we have time, we may do 1/2 the loop over again. | |||||||
