*** As per COC's Safety Policy, a rock climbing helmet is required for this scramble. No helmet = no event ***
Distance: 16.9km round trip Sheol Mountain, while not a likely choice for a first scramble in the Lake Louise area, offers impressive views of Paradise Valley and the north face of Mount Temple. It's not a prominent peak, but rather the end of Haddo Peak's north ridge. So, if you are looking for some solitude in the area with an excellent approach trail, this is the way to go. While the coordinator likes to take long breaks at the summit (if conditions permit), we will be moving at a STEADY MODERATE pace. For your own safety and for the enjoyment of the group, if you move at a slower pace or like to take frequent breaks, then this event is not for you. You will be REQUIRED to have done at least TWO D5+ hikes/scrambles THIS SUMMER in order to participate. The coordinator will be checking your event history. Larch Valley, Eiffel Lakes, Consolation Lakes, and Paradise Valley areas currently have a Restricted Activity Order in effect due to grizzly bears in the area. We will be required to be in a close group of 4 or more people (within 3 metres between two individuals) while in Paradise Valley. If you cannot abide by this restriction, please do not sign up for this event. Please bring bear spray if you have it. Please note that the coordinator has not done this trip before. Please allow time/patience for unforeseen circumstances. References:
