Indoor Soccer #104 Come join a fantasically fun group of COC'ers for an exciting afternoon of indoor soccer. If you have never experienced the indoor game I encourage you to come out and give it a try, ALL SKILL LEVELS ARE WELCOME. It's a great workout, a lot of fun and completely different than the outdoor version! Due to the popularity of this event, it has been limited to MEMBERS ONLY! If you have friends who are interested in participating please encourage them to enroll in the club first. IMPORTANT: The meeting time for this event is 4:00PM which means you are expected to have checked in, submitted your payment and received your team assignment by that time. Please have the courtesy to remove your name if you are unable to meet these expectations. Your coordinator has paid for this booking in advance! If you cancel after registration cutoff and a replacement cannot be found from the wait list, you will be expected to submit payment at your next event. Be prepared for a wide range of skill levels amongst the participants. Advanced players will be expected to ENCOURAGE and INCLUDE all their fellow teammates in the play. LET'S KEEP IT FUN FOR EVERYONE! There are change rooms complete with shower facilities available on site. Take a moment to peruse the BOBBLE HEAD WALL OF FAME where you can browse through photos of previous "Player of the Game" award recipients! *************************************************************************************************************** COC BASIC INDOOR SOCCER RULES Each game will consist of 3 periods of play with 2 short intermissions. The duration of each period will vary depending on the length of the booking but typically you can expect between 25 and 35 minute periods. Each team will typically have 12 players with 3 forwards, 2 defence and one goal keeper on the field at all times. Shifts should be kept to a MAXIMUM of 3 minutes to ensure even playing time for all participants. SPORTSMANSHIP: All players are expected to treat one another with respect at all times! Be prepared for a wide range of skill levels amongst the participants. Advanced players will be expected to ENCOURAGE and INCLUDE all their fellow teammates in the play. Remember this is a non-contact sport. Aggressive and/or overly competitive behaviour will not be tolerated. LET'S KEEP IT FUN FOR EVERYONE! KICK OFF (START OF PLAY): To start the game, the 2 centre fielders will use rock, paper, scissors to determine which team gets possession for the opening kickoff. We will then alternate possession for the 2nd and 3rd periods. A kick off will start the game and restart the game after a goal is scored. The team that was scored against will always get the kick off. Kick offs do not have to travel forwards, but may not be touched by the kicker again until the ball has been contacted by another player. A goal cannot be scored directly from a kick off. During any kick off the opposing team must remain 10 feet from the ball until it has been put into play. NO OFFSIDE NO 3 LINE RULE ENFORCEMENT GOALKEEPER RESTRICTIONS: Players can pass a ball to their goalkeeper, who may choose to pick it up with his/her hands as long as they are in the crease. The goalkeeper also has the option to kick or pass the ball. Goalies cannot use their hands to play a ball that is outside their crease. This means a goalkeeper who is standing inside their crease cannot reach outside of it to pick up a ball. Should this occur, it will be considered a handball and the opposing team will be awarded an INDIRECT kick from where the infraction took place. A goalie cannot cross centre field under any circumstances. A goalie can score on the opposing team. Pulling the goalie for an extra player is not permitted. BALL OUT OF PLAY: An indirect corner kick will be awarded to the offensive team if a defender (including the goalie) knocks the ball out of play over the end boards. The goalie will receive possession if an offensive player knocks the ball out of play over the end boards. When this occurs, all offensive players must remain OUTSIDE the crease until the goalie has played the ball. An indirect free kick from the sideline will be awarded to the opposing team when a player knocks the ball out of play over the side boards. (throw ins not permitted) INDIRECT CORNER-KICKS: The ball is placed on the white dot in the corner closest to where the ball went out of play. The defending team must stand at least 10 feet away from the ball until it has been put into play. The kicker is not allowed to play the ball a second time until it has been touched by another player. The ball must touch at least 2 players before it can be a goal (the kicker and 1 other, which could include the goalkeeper). INDIRECT FREE-KICKS: All indirect free-kicks are to be taken from the point where a violation occurred. The defending team must stand at least 10 feet away from the ball until it has been put into play. If there is LESS than 10 feet between the kicking team and the defending team’s crease, the defending team may position players along the edge of their crease. The ball is in play when the player kicks the ball. The player taking the free kick may not touch it again until it has been touched by another player. The ball must touch at least 2 players before it can be a goal (the kicker and 1 other, which could include the goalkeeper). INDIRECT SIDELINE KICK: The ball is placed along the dotted sideline closest to where the ball left the playing field. The defending team must stand at least 10 feet away from the ball until it goes into play. The player taking the sideline kick may not touch it again until it has been touched by another player. The ball must touch at least 2 players before it can be a goal (the kicker and 1 other, which could include the goalkeeper). PENALTY KICKS: The only circumstance where a penalty kick will be awarded is when a defensive player is called for a handball in the crease. All other infractions result in an INDIRECT free kick from where the violation took place. HANDBALLS: A handball occurs when the ball touches any part of a player’s arm from the bottom of the shoulder to the fingertips (except a goalkeeper within their own crease). When a ball touches a player’s hand and the opposing team was not adversely affected by the handball, play WILL CONTINUE. Please see below for examples of when the Advantage Rule would apply to a handball: Defensive handball: Team A attempts to pass the ball to a teammate and a player from team B touches the ball with their hand but team A is in no worse of an offensive position. Offensive handball: Team A attempts to pass the ball to a teammate and that teammate touches the ball with their hand but the ball ends up in the possession of team B. Calling a Handball: It is the responsibility of the player who touched the ball with their hand to yell out ‘handball’. If the team that received the call in their favour decides that the Advantage Rule applies, they should yell ‘Play On’ and the play will not stop. REMEMBER: EVERYONE IS HERE TO HAVE FUN, PLEASE DO YOUR PART TO ENSURE THIS EVENT REMAINS FUN, FRIENDLY AND SAFE BY RESPECTING EACH OTHER AT ALL TIMES! *************************************************************************************************************** | |||||||
