Itinerary:
Not sure if Glenn is back (just got back myself) and monday is coming fast so I'll post the event for him. I'm doing the run event prior to this one and I'm a slooow runner so I may be running a bit late ( pun intended) but I should be there by 6:35.

Let's keep the routine, stay in shape, recover from weekend activities, get ready for more great late summer and autumn hikes, and make some friends! Challenge yourself, or walk with others, over a couple of weeks starting at 2 or 3x up the stairs, or the path, and build from there. I've heard 15x (2500 steps!) has been the limit in an hour. Wow, that's not me. I've also heard you can burn 1000 calories in an hour of stairs. That may be pushing it a bit.

Hikers, you can bring a pack similar to what you'd bring on a day hike, or you can just walk/climb.

Backpackers, this is an awesome opportunity to get used to the heavier pack weight! The rule of thumb is maximum pack weight should not exceed 30% of your body weight, and, unless you're already there, you should build up the weight over a number of weeks ....

Runners, you are welcome to join us as the switchbacks / bike path offer an excellent cross training opportunity! Many of you are already doing this to followon from the the earlier Bow River Run.

There are 120 feet (~40m), 167 steps, of McHugh's Bluff to ascend or descend.

This event is self directed, walk by yourself or with others, and chose your own pace and your own routing. A few suggestions are:

Route #1: Head up the stairs and then back down, or walk down the bike path, to catch your breath

Route #2: Try walking, or jogging, up the bike path heading east, return back across the ridge, and come down the stairs.

If you have any questions or concerns or last minute cancellations, please contact me directly via phone or text.<

Access from Memorial Drive, the meeting point is located near the bottom of the stairs--usually under some shade or over by the smaller set of stairs just a bit to the west. The stairs are located across from Prince's Island Park, north side of Memorial.
