Itinerary: | |||||||
Distance: `9km return Elevation Gain: ~500M Hiking boots required - Sorry no runners or jeans/sweat pants From the gravel parking lot we will hike along the road through the rock quarry until we reach the trailhead. From here we will head up to the front base of the cliff, walk along the front of the cliff on a very narrow trail heading west to the end of the cliff have lunch and then run the scree. YOU must be comfortable walking going down scree/very steep section-(pls refer to COC web posting photo- above). Please note today we are NOT doing the Yamnuska Traverse-scramble- where the "cable" is. Pace:We will be hiking at a Moderate pace on gentler/flat grades and at a Slower pace on steeper terrain. If you're not sure about a hike, feel free to contact the coordinators and remember to always hike within your ability in order to be able to keep up with the group. If you have not recently hiked in the mountains, it is best to select a hike with lower elevation/distance and build up from there. If you are used to signing up for slowpoke pace"hikes or "beginner only hikes",this hike will be too fast for you. PLEASE ensure you have the right level of fitness for all hikes that you sign up for. IMPORTANT - Read: · We will stay together as a group. If you like to race ahead or race to the top, do not sign up for this event. · Do not be in a rush to get back to Calgary. We will be out to enjoy the day and event duration may vary. | |||||||

COC SAFETY POLICY:All COC trips going to Mount Yamnuska for
any reason, which will include traversing along the front of the
cliff, require climbing helmets from all participants, and require
that those helmets be worn while in front of the cliff. Note that
bike helmets and other helmets are NOT sufficient... proper
climbing helmets are a must. This is to protect people from
being killed by a rock falling from the cliff. It doesn't take a very
big rock, nor a very far fall for the rock, to seriously injure or kill
someone if they're struck by
one.********************************* - Details of this event are subject to undergo a change at any point in time, with or without warning. - Notice any errors or problems in the information on this page?
