Itinerary:
Are you a non-runner, but wondering what it might be like to start? Geared towards beginners, for $20, this 10 week programme will help you move from walking to running and help learn running efficiency and get you ready to run a 5km run well. Every week will start with a quick session on a variety of topics (nutrition, injury prevention, etc.) by an experienced MEC runner, followed by a run.

The programme will run Tuesdays from 6:30-8:30pm and includes entry into the MEC Calgary Race Seven on October 19 (9:00am) should you wish to participate in that. If you'd need to miss any of the weeks, that is fine - just let the run leader know beforehand and they may be able to get give you some info to keep you on track.

Note that you will automatically end up on the wait list for the event. In order to be moved to the COC attendee list, you must first register with MEC online here. You pay the programme fees directly to MEC; you do not pay through COC. Once you have registered and paid with MEC, send me an e- mail ( barbara dot b at shaw dot ca ) and you will be moved over to the attendee list.

Note that your coordinator is totally new to running as well. If COC people sign up for this, the subsequent weeks will also be posted to the COC calendar. Let's all learn to run together, and who knows, maybe we'll be pretty decent on the October 19 race :- ).
