Itinerary:
We will start Saturday morning at the Barrier Lake Dam then hike in Jewell Bay campsite. Suitable for those new to backpacking but you should be able to carry heavy backpack into the campsite.

Distance: ~4 km one way
Elevation to campsite:~ Mostly FLAT

After setting up camp, options for further activities include:
- Do a quick trip to Prairie View Lookout via Jewell Pass for the views.(Approx 10k round trip, 500m elevation gain)
- Go jump into the lake after the excursion or if you manage to lug a raft in, go floating on the lake.
- Just chill out
- In the evening we can have a simple potluck dinner party. No desserts please. Bring something you'd like to share and for yourself if you have specific food needs. Just bring enough for about 1/3 of the participants or else there will be a lot of leftovers.

This is a tent sharing co-ed event. Each site's tent pad will hold 2 people nicely, maximum 4 person and one tent per site. (Although personally I wouldn't really want to carry in a 4 man tent, I'd rather carry in yummy stuff)

When you sign up, please indicate if:
1 - You have a backcountry tent and how many people can fit in the tent
2 - You have backcountry gear to share like backcountry stove, water filter, axe, tarp etc
3 - If you can drive and how many people can you take.

THIS IS A COED EVENT- WE WILL HAVE TO SHARE TENTS. NOT ENOUGH TENT SITES TO GO AROUND.
Please do not sign up for this event if you are unwilling to share a tent. Also, this is also an any fun thing goes event (i.e. be prepared for the unexpected, fun wise, stiff upper lips need not come :-) )

You can rent a backpacking and kayak stuff at MEC or UofC Outdoor Center

Make sure you have adequate warm clothes because it might get below zero at night. Do not rely on the fire to keep you warm, especially if there is a fire ban in place. Avoid 20cotton clothing
