Distance: 7.2 km
We will meet on the SOUTH side of the river at the "Edworthy Park" sign where the pathway crosses the train tracks. (OPPOSITE side of the river to Angels Cafe). We will head east on the pathway and take the The Douglas Fir Trail along the escarpment then pick up the Quarry Trail eastward towards Crowchild Trail. At the end of The Quarry Trail we will turn around and walk back the way we came. The Douglas Fir Trail is located in the east portion of Edworthy Park and is one of the most easterly stands of Douglas fir in Canada. Undulating along an escarpment created by an ancient and much mightier Bow River, this natural area is just minutes from downtown. The Douglas Fir Trail, a reasonably short but strenuous hike up and down a series of steps and walkways placed between the bases of beautiful, towering fir trees. Those interested can join at Hexter's Pub afterwards for the Jam (cover charge of $5 at the door) | |||||||
