Itinerary:
My plan is a fitness ride up Prairie View Trail, climbing to the Barrier Lake Lookout. The path is wide and lacks difficult technical sections, but consists of a series of switchbacks with low to increasingly steeper gradients. The ride is suitable for those with beginning to intermediate technical skills and good fitness. I'm out of shape this year, so we will be going at a moderate pace. Once at the lookout, we will stop for a break and then descend back on the same track. It might be useful to bring lighting, as sunset will be ca. 9pm. I would like to be off the trail before dark, but perhaps get a glimpse of the Perseids as we are loading to return home.
