The trip to the Kananaskis Fire Lookout should be mandatory for anyone planning to spend much time exploring the Kananaskis Lakes region. The lookout provides an impressive overview of the lakes, which in turn offers an excellent opportunity to understand the way the tangled topography around the lakes fits together.

PLEASE NOTE THAT YOUR COORDINATOR HAS NOT DONE THIS HIKE IN THE PAST SO EXPECT SOME STOPPING AND CHECKING THE MAP ON ROUTE TO THE LOOKOUT.

- snacks and lunch
- clothing (for any type of weather...please no cotton including jeans)

How to Get There:
Event Directions:Take Hwy 1 west out of town. Go south on Hwy 40 for approx 56km. Just before the winter gate, turn right onto Kananaskis Lakes Trail. Follow the Kananaskis Lakes Trail for 9.7km to the Boulton Creek Trading Post. Turn left and find your way to the upper parking lot. The trail begins on the asphalt bicycle path at the southeast corner of the parking lot.

Carpool Cost: Approximate vehicle expense for this event is $90.00 (calculated at total Km * $0.30, effective Thursday, April 18, 2024).
