Before signing up, please read all the event details carefully and familiarize yourself with the club's difficulty ratings and safety policy. I am not a guide, just a volunteer coordinator. Sign up only if you feel you could do this event as easily if you were to do it yourself. You must be comfortable with challenging hiking.

Note #1 - PACE: Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike (getting to the top in record time) nor is it for the very slow, we will be hiking at a moderate pace on gentler grades, unless bushwacking (with a few stops for pictures) and at a slower pace on steeper terrain. If you have not recently hiked 500M+, this hike is not for you. If you're use to "slowpoke pace hikes" then this hike is not for you.

Note #2
< - Your coordinator has not done this hike before. Please allow time and patience for unforeseen circumstances.

Note #3< - Do not be in a hurry to return to Calgary, we will be out for the day and the return time may vary.

Note #4< - We hike as a group. If you can't remain with the group, this hike is not for you.

This unofficial, unmaintained trail starts at the Burstall Pass trailhead and follows the main trail for about 3.3 km, then veers off to the south (left) on an overgrown logging road. Once the trail intersects the creek it fades, but simply following the creek will lead you to the col. The views from the col are outstanding and you get to see two glaciers - French and Robertson, as well as several 3000+ m mountains. From the lower ridge of Burstall, the views include Mt. French, French Glacier, and Mt. Robertson. Then we will gain the north ridge of Piggy Plus for views of Robertson Glacier, Snow Peak, Birdwood Pass and Mt. Birdwood. Sounds like a fun adventure!

IMPORTANT: Dogs must be well socialized and have a leash. Also, please note that the COC and its Volunteers are not responsible for mishaps (or fines) that occur on an event due to the behavior of dogs (or their owners) who attend our events. Your dog must be at least mid-sized and experienced in hiking steep and rocky terrain, as well as long distances. The coordinator reserves the right to call and check on the dog’s history. If you show up at the carpool or at the trailhead with a dog that has not been added when you signed up for the event, your dog will not be allowed to join us.
