Itinerary: | |||||||
Distance: 18 - 20 kms Elevation: Approximately 800 - 900 meters Pace: Mostly moderate but slower while ascending This event is for hikers who have recently completed some events with similar distance, elevation and pace. We will stick together & take time to enjoy the views. If you like to do a faster pace & go off ahead of the group, please pick another event. We are out to enjoy the day, event duration may vary. If you have evening plans it is best not to sign up for this event. If the weather forecast changes to rain/snow all day Saturday then this event will be postponed to another date or cancelled. Hike Description Today's main destination is the southeast section of Panorama Ridge. Our route today and destination will offer up front row seats to a prime time viewing of the larch presentation. The journey to the Ridge begins with ascending 6 kms through forest along switchbacks to Taylor Lake, which lies at the base of Mount Bell. We'll then make our way up to the larch filled Panorama Meadows that has Panorama Ridge as its backdrop. The route winds through the meadow leading to a trail that steeply ascends through the forest. Coming out of the forest, you emerge onto the open slope of the southeast end of Panorama Ridge. This will make a great lunch location, having a view east to the Bow Valley Corridor. We will return the way we came.
