DRIVERS needed.
Expect snow, so come prepared.
Pls do not be a rush to get back to Calgary.
After reviewing the participants list, I may contact you regarding your experience.

PLEASE NOTE: Sorry NO jeans/sweat pants.Proper hiking boots required.

Hike description: Ideally the goal is to do the loop. However once we go up the regular way we will assess the snow situation and then decide if we will do the loop or come back the same way. Thus, is the reason I have indicated both distances/elevations.

Prairie Mountain is a great conditioner. Standing at the top on a clear day, one can see Calgary to the east, Moose Mountain to the north, and Banded Peak to the west.

It can get very windy at the summit therefore please ensure that you bring warm clothing

TIP for NW members:.
For members who live in the NW you might want to meet us directly at the trailhead. thanks

Please note that this is not a speed demon's hike(getting to the top in record time) We we will be hiking at a Moderate Pace on flat areas and at a Slower Pace on steeper terrain going up. If you're used to "slowpoke- paced hikes" then this hike is not for you. Please remember that it's alot harder to hike in snow/winter conditions then summer conditions.

******* Winter Safety Considerations
Entered by Sylvia Angelini on November 14, 2014
Terrain Classification: This is unrated front range terrain west of Bragg Creek.
Conditions: No avalanche bulletins are available for this area. Lingering snow is expected.
Plan: If we encounter snow that is higher than the ankle, we will look for an alternate route with less snow.
Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are not trained guides. All participants are responsible for assessing the current road conditions, current weather conditions, current trail conditions and current avalanche conditions for the trip.
