Itinerary:

I will be posting numerous hikes and extended backpacking trips as COC events this summer, so let's use this warm, snow-free spring to get ready for backpacking season a bit early. The area west of Bluerock (southern Kananaskis) has been virtually snow-free since early March. Random camping is allowed in that area as long as one is at least 1km from the nearest road. We will be roughing it, so you do not need to bring anything. We will build a shelter similar to the one pictured above from deadfall (do not cut down any trees), will trap for food (if you have some skills for this, please sign up), and explore. Expect the total distance to be around 10km round-trip with minimal elevation gain.
