Itinerary:
Distance = 10 km return
Elevation gain = 60 m

A scenic easy trail right from Banff townsite. The trail rolls gently along the Bow River through sun-dappled forest and meadows, culminating at the hoodoos, weirdly-shaped pillars carved by water and wind erosion. The trail's relatively low elevation makes this an excellent early or late season hike.

The trail covers a variety of terrain, and is heavily used by mountain bikers. From the small parking lot at the trailhead, the path descends to the Bow River and winds its way alongside a small side channel. Be alert for grazing elk! You climb a small hill back up to an escarpment above the river, then cruise along until you reach Tunnel Mountain Road. The trail continues eastward on the sloping trail alongside Tunnel Mountain Road to the Hoodoos parking lot. From there, we have a 0.4km interpretive trail to the Hoodoos Viewpoint.
