Total Distance: 17 km Elevation Gain: 385 m Pace: Relaxed "The Plain of the Six Glaciers trail transports you into the heart of the Canadian Rockies' most famous postcard view and sets you down beneath the glacier-capped summits of Mounts Victoria and Lefroy. However, don't expect much solitude on one of Banff's most popular trails." (Ref: Brian Patton & Bart Robinson, Canadian Rockes Trail Guide, p. 92) The trip begins at the shores of powder-blue Lake Louise, an unforgettable sight all-by-itself. From there we will follow the trail as it climbs steadily to the teahouse situated high above Lake Louise and the crevasses of Lower Victoria Glacier. We will continue another 1.5 km further, and can take in the surrounding views of Abbot Hut and the glaciers clinging high above. We will stop at the teahouse on out return to have lunch Ref: Don't Waste Your Time in the Canadian Rockies 6th Edition, Trip 118, p. 427. Please Note: if you are looking for a fast paced event or are in a rush to get back to Calgary, this is not the event for you. If I am short of drivers I may give them priority from the wait list. | |||||||
