It's great to live in Calgary! You don't have to travel far to get a quick hike in. In addition Sunday's forecast is sunny and warm so come on out and join us.

Moose Mountain fire lookout. It provides a very scenic view on a clear day, whereby the foursome can be seen to the southwest:Banded Peak, Outlaw Peak, Mt. Cornwall and Mt. Glasgow. You'll have many "digital moments". Moose Mountain is located halfway between the prairies and the first range of the Rocky Mountains.

We are planning to have lunch at the summit(where the fire lookout is). Hopefully the sun will be out and the wind light.

If you live in the NW, you might want to meet us directly at trailhead, quicker for you then meeting us at the SW carpool.

PACE: Relaxed Slower pace when doing the uphill portions and moderate for the balance. If you are a speed demon , please sign up for another hike.

If weather is no longer nice/sunny and takes a turn...this event will get cancelled-email will go out.

Note that COC event coordinators are volunteers and are NOT trained guides. All participants are responsible for their OWN safety and equipment.

How to Get There:
Event Directions:DIRECTIONS FROM SW CARPOOL: Drive south on Macleod Trail & exit out of town on 22X westbound (Marquis of Lorne). If you drive by Spruce Meadows you know that you're heading in the right direction towards Kananaskis. Highway 22X turns into 22 just before Priddis (keep going west) and eventually turns into 66 (3 km before Bragg Creek). Don't turn toward Bragg Creek but continue heading west on Hwy. 66. About 0.7 km past the Paddy's Flats campground, we will turn right onto the Moose Mountain Road. This steep, 7.5 km long gravel road going up will take us to a small parking area at the trailhead. ==================================== === CARPOOL FROM THE NW: Go West to Bragg Creek and follow Hwy 8 west then Hwy 22 south to Bragg Creek. At the 3 way stop sign at Bragg Creek, turn left to stay on Highway 22. Reset odometer to 0. Turn west (right) onto Highway 66 and continue west. At 16.7km (just beyond Paddy's Flat) turn right onto a dirt road. Continue on this road for 7km until you reach the trailhead parking.
