Itinerary:
Please Note:
This is a ski lesson offered through the U of C Outdoor Centre. Everyone will automatically go on the waiting list until you have reserved and paid your spot through the U of C Outdoor Centre (see instructions below). First people to be registered/paid are the first to be added to this event.

Course Description:
Get out and enjoy Kananaskis Country while building your cross-country ski skills! The focus of this day session is on classic techniques, with an emphasis on maintaining speed and rhythm on varied terrain. The morning concentrates on developing efficient skills for flat terrain, while the afternoon focuses on hill techniques.

Prerequisite: The ABCs or equivalent experience. This basically means that you should have taken some sort of XC ski lesson in the past.
This event is NOT suited to people who have never XC skied before.

Our Plan for the Day:
   · 8:00am sharp - Depart carpool
   · 9:45am - Arrive at Pocaterra Hut
   · 10:00am to 3:00pm - Lesson
   · 3:00pm - 4:00pm - Possibly ski a bit more, applying what we just learned
   · 4:15pm - Leave PLPP
   · 5:15pm - 6:00pm or 6:15 (approx.) - Canmore Christmas Night Market
   · 6:15pm - Dinner at Rose & Crown in Canmore

(Note that the Canmore portion of this trip is dependent on decent Smith Dorrien conditions, but it is otherwise expected that everyone participate in all of the day's activities).

Registration:
1) Go to the XC Skill Builder page and register/pay for the December 12 course (course #W16OXCF103).
2) E-mail barbara.b@shaw.ca to confirm that you have signed up and you will be moved to the attendee list.

Note that as this is a lesson put on by the U of C's Outdoor Centre, other (non-COC) people will be in attendance.

Gear:
If you do not have your own XC skis, please ensure that you pick up rentals skis the day before (and reserve well before that). We will not be picking up gear the morning of the event and carpool will depart at 8:00am sharp.

You can rent gear from the following:
   · MEC - get the cross country package, which includes skis, boots, and poles ($15)
   · U of C Outdoor Centre - get the cross country package, which includes skis, boots, and poles ($17)

Carpool Note:
Recently very many COC members who have vehicles are signing up as 'Unable to Drive'. This causes issues as no drivers means no ability to get to a trailhead. If you can drive, please indicate this accurately when you sign up. Likewise, when you register, please confirm that you have a way of getting to the trailhead. With XC skis I could only fit two other people in my vehicle and your skis could not exceed 185-190cm (or they simply will not fit!). I also do not have winter tires (have all-weather tires) :-).

COC Donations:
$2 COC donations are what keep our club running. Please give me your $2 donation at carpool or have a Premier Membership (which you can also get at carpool). Premier memberships are $25 for 12 months (effective date of purchase, not January - December).
