Itinerary:
This is a fitness boot-camp, specifically designed to get us ready for backpacking in the spring and summer (or even winter!).

We will fill backpacks with whatever we can (I use dumbells wrapped in sleeping bags), get them to a weight that is suitable for ourselves, throw them on and then climb the stairs at McHugh Bluff (behind the Curling Club).

If you don’t want to take the stairs up or down, you can choose the adjacent pathway.

If you have not done this type of thing, start with lesser weight.

To simulate real backcountry situations, I choose to wear hiking boots. I have also worn running shoes. I like hiking boots better, especially when carrying a very heavy pack.

Ideally, you’d bring a 40-70L backpack that you would normally wear on a backpacking trip. You’ll find that it takes a few goes to get the backpack adjusted for maximum comfort.

I usually go for between an hour and two. You can pick the duration you like best.
