Itinerary:
START TIME HAS CHANGED!
July 8: 6km, +900M
Friday morning we will arrive at the Lake O’Hara parking lot by 10AM. We will board the 10:30am bus. As soon as we get to Lake O’Hara, we will start hiking towards Abbot Hut. The trail goes up the north shore of Lake O’Hara and then up some switchbacks to Lake Oesa. Here we will don helmets and trudge our way up the steep scree slope to Abbot Hut. At the Hut we can have a late lunch, and then enjoy the beautiful vistas on either side of the col between Mts Lefroy and Victoria. We will prepare and eat a communal lactose and gluten-free dinner with vegan options. Folks will bring their own lunches/snacks.

July 9: 0km, 0M
Saturday everyone is responsible for their own breakfast and lunch. You are free to do what you like. You can chill out at the Hut or be outside all day. There’s lots of opportunities for photography. You can scramble a little bit on Mt Lefroy or on Mt Victoria (at your own risk with no help). Your coordinator will likely sit with a book and coffee mug all day. Around 6pm we will prepare and eat a communal lactose and gluten-free dinner with vegan options.

July 10: 10-12km, -700M, +200M, -400M
We will make an early start. By 9am all should have had breakfast, packed their bags, and be ready for the descent. After making our way down to Lake Oesa, we will take off southwards on the Yukness alpine circuit. Coming down the other end we’ll go to Opabin Lake, where we will sit and eat lunch. Depending on how much time we have, we’ll come down and visit the 7-waterfalls and then walk around the south shore of Lake O’hara before we get back to the bus stop to catch the last bus back.

Your coordinator has been to this hut twice so feel free to ask questions.

PLEASE DO NOT SEND ANY PAYMENT TO EITHER THE CLUB OR THE COORINATOR. ONCE THE COORDINATOR HAS VETTED YOU, YOU WILL BE PROVIDED PAYMENT INSTRUCTIONS.
