PRE-REGISTRATION REQUIRED:Once you've reviewed the event details, and decided you'd like to join us, you MUST sign up at the bottom of this page.You will then make your payment for this event at the venue, NOT in advance to the COC.

IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ THE EVENT DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY PRIOR TO REGISTERING. SERIOUS APPLICANTS ONLY. PARTICIPANTS NAMES MUST ALL FIRST BE PUT ON THE WAIT LIST.

We are very pleased to inform you that the Calgary Outdoor Club (COC) will subsidize 50% - "Introduction to Lake Canoeing". The total cost per person is $30.50 + GST. COC will subsidize $30.50 + GST and each selected participant will be asked to pay in advance the remaining $30.50+ GST.

Learn or improve the strokes needed to comfortably and efficiently manoeuvre a tandem canoe on flat water. Stroke instruction includes Draws, Prys, Sweeps and Steering Strokes, including the Lake and River 'J' Strokes. We'll discuss canoe stability and group safety.

PLEASE NOTE:All paddling gear provided (canoes, paddles, pfd's) Safety gear.

+++IMPORTANT INFORMATION/SELECTION CRITERIA: +++

- The Course will be provided by The University of Calgary - The Outdoor Centre.
- "NO REFUND" available for the the course
- Priority for Course will be given to COC active Volunteers, secondly to Premier members and afterwards to the regular COC members if unable to fill the course.
-You must have participated in at least 3 COC Outdoor MOUNTAIN events from August 8, 2015 - May 8, 2016 .
++++ **PLS DO NOT sign up if you do not meet the requirements, your name will have to be removed from the wait list.**++++
- Offer would EXCLUDE social/ volunteer/ learn events/ all indoor events/ and meetings. (Do not include these as part of the COC 3 required outdoor Mountain events). If you've done outdoor Mountain events with friends and other clubs - that's great!, however they DO NOT count as COC outdoor history requirements.
- The COC Training Team will put all those interested on the “waiting list” and check the participants' history with the COC. Once the due diligence is done to check people’s history, the COC Training Team will send to the selected participants an email asking them to pay the remaining $30.50+ GST within a certain deadline (exact instructions to be provided by email by the COC Training Team)
- The course will be taking place on Saturday - May 28, 2016, from 9am to 3pm.
Full payment by selected COC members will be required this week.

PLEASE NOTE: Since this course is subsidized(paid ahead of time)If you need to cancel 72 hours prior to the event=you will get an automatic no show. In addition if you have a history of "no shows" or of cancelling events at the last minute, please DO NOT sign up. We need participants who are fully committed.

The COC Training Team is responsible for providing educational sessions where members can learn about different aspects of the outdoors, specifically:

a) providing educational sessions to members
b) raising awareness about different aspects of the outdoors
c) increasing the members' safety while enjoying their activities in the mountains
d) providing everyone the opportunity to ask pertinent questions

- Raingear
__ Sunscreen/Sunglasses

__ Warm clothing layers or neoprene wetsuit
__ Wool socks and old runners, or neoprene booties
__ Water bottle
__ Snacks
__ Change of dry clothes/Extra clothes to leave in vehicle

Member Cost:$30.50/Person
Cost Includes:50% of the cost of the course needs to be paid by the participant. Exact payment instructions will be provided by the COC Training Team in due course once all participants are selected.
